Band places 3rd at National Competiton

The Massanutten Brass Band placed 3rd in its first appearance at the North American Brass Band Association Championships in Louisville, KY on April 1, 2006. The ensemble was one of eight brass bands competing in the Challange Section, one of the divisions at the contest. The other bands in the section were from Georgia, Maryland, Arkansas, Kentucy and Illinois.

For several band members, this was their first contest appearance since high school - over 30 years ago! Despite some nerves and a bit of uncertainty, the band pulled through and had a wonderful performance of the test piece Aspects of Praise by William Himes, as well as their own choice selection A London Overture by Philip Sparke.

Several members are already talking about a return visit to the event with an eye on that first place banner!
